Barbara Casavecchia ed.
With a conversation between Roman Signer, Giovanni Carmine, and Barbara Casavecchia.

Invited to create a public work for the area around Trivero, in the Piemonte countryside, for the fourth edition of  “All’Aperto,” the art event organized by the Fondazione Zegna, Roman Signer presented the work Horloge, a large “time-sculpture” four meters in height, in which the Swiss artist comes to terms with his first permanent public commission in Italy. The catalogue illustrates Signer’s project through a fine selection of images and documentation, and narrates the genesis, production and installation of this site-specific piece, as well as the action that took place at the opening. In a long conversation with Barbara Casavecchia and Giovanni Carmine, Signer starts with Horloge to discuss his early experiences of failure in the factory, his obsession with clocks and volcanos, all the way to his work as a “sculptor of time.”
