Description
For “Broken Away from Common Standpoints,” Alicja Kwade transformed the space of the Milanese non-profit venue Peep-Hole into a fairy-tale landscape. Dozens of ballerina statuettes, collected by the artist over the years, filled the entire exhibition space. Though they came from different eras and places, the figurines featured similar poses and gazes. The artist altered the face of each statuette, repainting the eyes so that they are all looking upward. This publication documents the show, for which the space in Milan operated as a satellite project room of Museion, Bolzano.
