Description
Addio anni 70. Arte a Milano 1969-1980 (Goodbye ‘70s. Art in Milan 1969-1980) was published in conjunction to the exhibition of the same name at Palazzo Reale, Milan, 2012.
Conceived as a parallel, complementary project, the volume is an anthology of writings and images from the 1970s, gathered with the aim of illustrating the scene of Milanese art and criticism during that decade.
The selected texts—from magazines, newspapers, books and catalogues of the time—include contributions by critics, journalists and artists who were all leading figures on the Milan art scene (like Gillo Dorfles, Luciano Caramel, Tommaso Trini, Lea Vergine, Carla Lonzi, Nanni Balestrini, Ugo Mulas, Franco Vaccari, Ugo La Pietra…).
The texts are accompanied by photographic materials of different kinds (invitations to shows, magazine covers, pamphlets, posters, photographs documenting personalities and important exhibitions) taken from the archives of galleries, magazines and artists that were points of reference, in those years, for the spread of art and critical debate in Milan.
