Calamitati da Gino
Gino De Dominicis was one of the most well-known and controversial artistic personalities of the Italian post-war generation, and among the most influential figures for the subsequent generation of contemporary artists.
De Dominicis' role in the development of the Italian art scene is celebrated in the exhibition "Calamitati da Gino", curated by Giacinto di Pietrantonio at the CIAC (Italian Center of Contemporary Art) in Foligno. The exhibition reunites a selection of contemporary artists whose work, both directly or subtly, reveal influences of De Dominicis. Participating artists include: Francesco Barocco, Maurizio Cattelan, Loredana Di Lillo, Lara Favaretto, Giulio Frigo, Francesco Gennari, Massimo Grimaldi, Diego Perrone, Luigi Presicce, Pietro Roccasalva and Vedovamazzei.
The catalog was conceived as an appendix to the exhibition, sharing its title Calamitati da Gino. Formatted and distributed as a free-press newspaper, it was also granted large-scale circulation.
